Recently formalized as an official whiskey category by the U.S. government in 2024, American Single Malt Whiskey is a new chapter in American distilling - rooted in tradition, but distinctly our own. Made from 100% malted barley at a single distillery in the US, it follows the fundamental principles of single malt production while while embracing innovation in fermentation, distillation, and maturation, and allowing space for creativity to shape the final spirit.

Taught by EWA Approved Course Provider Lia Niskanen - founder of Barrel Strength Talent - and supported by the American Single Malt Whiskey Commission, this immersive two-day course will dive into the history, business, and production of American Single Malt, from an in depth look at the raw materials, to exploring the maturation, blending, and bottling phases.
Experience expert-led discussions, on-site tastings, and a guided sensory evaluation, and gain the skills and certification to be part of shaping this exciting chapter in American whiskey, before concluding with a special guided tour of our Distillery.

Join us for an in-depth tour of our distillery in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Walk through the distillation floor, learn more about barrel-aging, and get to try some of our innovative whiskeys.
The Gatehouses 1896
Located in the historic 1896 entrance to the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Open for flights, pours, cocktails, and New York wine and beer 7 days a week. Retail bottles can also be purchased for offsite consumption.
