American craft spirits association
Kings County Distillery is one of the first distilleries in the country to receive the new Certified Craft Spirits Seal from the American Craft Spirits Association.
The Seal of Authenticity
The certification represents something long missing from the shelves: a mark for independently made spirits from genuine craft producers, who are not only deeply involved in every step of production, but also committed to quality, transparency, and integrity.
what is the acsa?
The American Craft Spirits Association is the only national non-profit trade organization dedicated exclusively to representing the U.S. craft spirits industry, and has long worked to protect and define what 'craft' means in an increasingly crowded market.
To be a member - and to qualify for the Certified Craft Seal - a distillery must meet strict requirements, including:
- Be an independent licensed distiller with a valid DSP
- Have no more than 50% ownership by a large distilled spirits producer
- Produce fewer than 750,000 proof gallons removed from bond annually
- Subscribe to ACSA’s Code of Ethics, which mandates honesty and integrity.
In other words: small, independent, and committed to doing things the right way.
why it matters
As more labels crowd the shelves and 'craft' becomes an increasingly vague marketing term that's often misused, the ACSA seal offers clarity and confidence to whiskey drinkers, helping them to identify the producers who are truly putting in the work at the still.
While certification isn’t a measure of taste or quality, small-scale production often comes with a level of obsession, experimentation, and more hands-on attention to detail that we believe shows up in every bottle.
Those are values we’ve built our distillery on from the very beginning, and we're honored to now carry this official mark of authenticity as we continue to grow.
